April Status

I guess I should probably give an update as to where our family is in regards to our ongoing conflict with the IPC Session.

  • We had received a letter from the Session back in March reiterating most of the demands they had made before, and that the Heritage commission had struck down. Since the commission nullified the original demands, the Session felt they needed to be repeated.
  • Today, we received letter from the session verifying that we understand what the Session requires and whether we were going to comply. There were a few new demands thrown in, and our response succinctly communicated our position.
  • Tonight, on the April 15th deadline, we changed the name of the email group. It was hard to come up with an appropriate name, but we think we did ok. Sarah and I are still concerned about the Session’s flip-flopping on what they actually required of us, and members of the Session telling the congregation individually and corporately that we refused to comply. However, as a good faith gesture, we agreed to change the name of the email list.

After requesting them back in July, I did finally receive from Jim Sauer a whole slew of extracts from Session minutes, so that’s something new for us to pour over. Here is my second request.

Time for bed! Brewing beer tomorrow!
