Afternoon Worship

We can’t do it. Our family just cannot do this early afternoon worship service thing. Two of our four kids are physically used to napping at that time, and I don’t feel right discipling overtired children in the service.

It’s sad, because I like the afternoon service. No pressure to get up Sunday morning… I can enjoy a nice breakfast, etc. But, it really isn’t fair to the young children or their parents, especially if the parents expect their children to be able to pay attention through the service. It’s one thing to expect your children to obey and listen, but we should also be sensitive to their physical limitations.

  1. I probably should give background. I assume the only people who read this know all the details of my life. 🙂

Our church, who has been without a building, recently merged with a smaller congregation who did have a building, albiet, it needed a lot of restorative work. Currently, the building is undergoing construction, so our merged congregation is meeting at the building of a Reformed Baptist church.

Their church has a morning worship service, so in order to not conflict, we temporarily moved our worship service to 2pm, Sunday afternoons.

Thankfully, it’s temporary, but it’s really caused some problems. I think next week, I’ll take my two kids, and have my wife stay home with the nappers, and the week after, my wife can do the same.

  2. Hi Tom…

Ya, I read your blog quite often actually. I see you posted a link to mine, which I appreciate. I enjoy this web journal and look forward to more interesting stuff out of it 🙂

BTW..I tried to register for the site but it never sent me the password…

  3. Don’t worry about the login thing. It never worked, and there’s nothing on the site that registration will get you.

I’m glad you appreciate my journal, and I’ve been reading yours more often now that you’ve got the RSS feed.

  4. Thanks Tom..

I love the RSS feed. It is a great tool especially for those of us who are using Firefox. Makes checking favorite blogs a snap!
